CURRENT RESEARCH: 3T INITIATIVE PROJECT

Through the use of an expert panel who treats torture survivors to: 

  1. Cataloging experts in the field for other research. These expert panels will be a resource for future researchers. 
  2. Using the information to create a handbooks to address the holistic needs of a torture survivors. These handbooks will be a resource for treatment of torture survivors. These will be a resource for the APA Trauma Psychology Division Torture Trauma Treatment (3T) Initiative with other divisions. The 3T Initiative focuses on building a set of three handbooks for different audiences impacted by torture: (1) Survivors of Torture Handbook; (2) Families of Torture Survivors Handbook, and; (3) Practitioners working with survivors.

Through our research we look to treat torture trauma holistically by identifying the most relevant axioms for treatment approaches. From this, we are creating best practice handbooks and textbooks to treat all levels providers, families, and patients.

 Our expert panel has been chosen for their expertise in treating torture related trauma. All experts have 10 years or more of experience in treating torture trauma and have been nominated for their experience by their peers.
