Powell DiGangi, MSW Candidate 2017 

Powell DiGangi is a Tulane MSW student who is pursuing a Disaster Mental Health Certificate.  He has a BA in History with a concentration on California and Middle East History from University of California.  He also studied arabic grammar and Islamic theology at Zaytuna College.  He has a passion and strong sense of responsibility towards working with teens and young adults, especially within his Muslim community and has created and ran teen enrichment programs for the City of Emeryville and the Lighthouse Mosque.  He is very interested in studying most effective practices in working with children of parents who have survived torture.  He also worked for seven years as a labor organizer fighting for higher wages, benefits and workplace safety within the hotel industry.
